Appointments

What To Expect At Your First Appointment

The consultation will start with the taking of a complete health history. Questions relating to your current and past complaints, your past medical history and your family history will be asked.

This will be followed by a complete physical exam in order to assess your condition. This will include posture analysis, neurological and orthopaedic tests and testing of range of motion, dermatomes, myotomes and reflexes. These examinations help the chiropractor determine the cause of the complaint. When indicated, your chiropractor may send the patient for x-rays or laboratory tests.

If chiropractic care is warranted, the treatment received could consist of manipulations, soft tissue releasing techniques, electrotherapy, strapping, stretching and rehabilitation. If not warranted, the chiropractor will refer the patient to another medical specialist.

Follow-up Consultations

Certain patients can experience immediate relief after the treatment when normal joint motion is restored and the nerve is freed of any restrictive pressure or irritation. However, depending on the nature and duration of the condition, some patients might need multiple consultations to correct the problem. Each patient is unique and react differently to treatments, thus it is important to be patient and allow your body to realign itself and learn to adapt to the changes that are occurring.
